Portuguese is the official language of Portugal and Brazil, and is also spoken in some regions of Africa and Asia. This BibleMax module features the updated Portuguese translation of the Bible made by Joao Ferreira De Almeida, a famous Portuguese Protestant scholar. He based his translation on the well-known Reina-Valera Spanish version, used by many Spanish-speaking Protestant churches. Ferreira's translation was concluded in 1694 by the Dutch cleric Jacopus von der Akker after Ferreira's death. This revised edition was first published in the 19th century after many modifications, and is the standard Bible used by Portuguese-speaking Protestants.
As with most Bible versions used by Protestant denominations, Ferreira's translation does not feature books such as Esdras, Judith, Tobit, Maccabees, and others, whic are considered as apocrypha by most Protestants. To use this module, you need to install BibleMax core software, which can be downloaded from the developer's site, as well as many other modules. Also, please take into account that you will need a font that supports the swung dash and the diaeresis, which are characteristic of the Portuguese language.
